His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. 2 Peter 1:3 NIV
Need power in your life?
"It seems as though I can't go into a store without seeing "girl power" written on some fun, feminine item. Because I was a schoolteacher for almost 10 years, I have a schoolteacher "red pencil" in me that wants to come out and change "girl power" to God's power every time I see it! On our own strength girls, we don't have everything we need for life and godliness. I know what it is like to be both depleted of physical power and spiritual power. When I had neck surgery several years ago, it was difficult for a long time to even lift a gallon of milk. I had never felt so physically weak. And, oh, when I "get going" about my to-do list, over commit to wonderful opportunities, and really get bossy with my family because I've overcommitted, I get spiritually depleted. It's because I'm trying to use "girl power" instead of allowing God's power to make me usable to Him. Why do we want to do all our work for nothing? If it is not God's power at work, it doesn't count for anything eternal. We are all exhausted for nothing that really counts."
S.P. (Sweet Pea): So next time you see "girl power," remind yourself of God's power!
